Phew. The water level has gone down signifigantly. It looks like it's all drained out through a low part in the mountains, but there's still quite a bit on top of the plateau and on the ground surrounding it. There's a lake that's formed out by the mountains, I'll have to go and take a look at it before it evaporates away.

Some good news! Area 2 of Galamay is now open to the public for any explorer who feels like going spelunking! :D I hope they have fun and don't try to go past the tarp in the 5th or 1st cave... Those places are off-limits for now, since they are not part of Area 2 and thus have only just started to be restored...

I expect Area 3 to be opened to the public before 2009, but I'm not making any promises :P

AAHHH! This is very very bad. VERY bad. I linked into Galamay and the entire age has filled with about 15 feet of water! I have no idea what to do. This is really bad, I'm afraid the bottom ladder will rot or something. I hope it drains away soon. Ugh the whole age is basin shaped, I discovered. This is bad....

Today when I linked into Galamay (I swear I am still working it and will open Area 2 to the public very soon!), it was raining. Very unusual for the age, I thought it was a desert age. There are lots of puddles here and there and what looks like a lake off in the distance. This is mysterious, but it explains two things.

  • That one time I linked in and there was a foot of water on the ground

  • Many of the cave paintings I've found depict vegetation of sorts, and this rare rain would account for it.

That second one is doubtful, though. I have yet to see any vegetation at all. Perhaps it's all died in the who-knows-how-many years since the paintings were made. Perhaps it's just located somewhere else, since one of the paintings shows 2 plateaus, 1 with and one without vegetation. Strange. I've been studying these paintings and I think they do tell a story. I'll write it up in a journal later.

Restoration is going very well. I expect to open it in the coming week.

I'm going to replace the weak ladders with staircases, I think. I found a good place to get some really cheap ones.

Well the ladder still breaks very easily, so I'm going to place a blocker in front of it for now. I'm tired of waiting to open the age, so I'm opening it now, as soon as I can get the blocker in place.

Yup, any day now...I'm waiting on another explorer to lend me the tools I need to fix this damn ladder. It keeps breaking halfway up, and I simply cannot release Area 2 to the masses until this is fixed.

But truely, as soon as he lets me use the tools (and assuming the tools actually do the trick), I will open Area 2. Finally.

11:31 AM

Well, it's been a long time since I've written in here. I've just recently restarted the restoration of Galamay, since the request went out for restoration to stop. I received word from the parties involved, and I'm once again allowed to open my age to explorers.

I'm also happy to report that Area 2 is completely stable. All unstable areas have been closed off, all the cave markings have been documented (There seems to be a story told by some, but the others baffle me. They could be simply decoration) and sprayed with a preservative, the monument is polished, and its name is carved into it, and the ladders are in place. I got 3 very strong ladders to help get people from cave to cave, though they are a bit odd. They're deeper than one would expect, and their colors are strange, as if they were painted to look like wood by someone who'd never actually seen wood. Nevertheless, they work and are very strong (except for a spot near the top of the two taller ones, which has a tendency to break under stress. This worries me, and is the only thing keeping me from opening Area 2 currently).

Anyway, look out for the opening of Area 2 in the next week or so! (Sorry for the delay, obviously this news is about two months late. Bear with me, please)
